Philosophy
All veterinarians vow to protect animal health, and to prevent and relieve animal suffering. This oath is the veterinary equivalent of "do no harm". At Del Dios Veterinary Acupuncture, we believe that the absence of appropriate veterinary medical care is harmful to our beloved pets. For this reason, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) should be used as Integrative Medicine-- as an adjunct to traditional Western Medicine. Your primary general practice veterinarian is the best person to address emergency needs as well as annual wellness care. Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and TCVM are wonderful and effective therapies that are often appropriate for musculoskeletal concerns, chronic internal medicine conditions or conditions where traditional treatments need to be avoided due to the specific needs of the patient (e.g. drug allergies, steroid risk).
In an effort to pursue the highest quality medicine for your pet, we require the name and contact information of your primary care veterinarian before we commence with treatments. Clients are required to have a valid Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) with their primary care veterinarian; this means that an exam must have been performed by your primary care veterinarian within the last year.
βHey Doc, What does "Del Dios" mean?β
The name "Del Dios" is shortened from Campo del Dios or "Countryside from God". When my practice first started in San Diego, even native San Diegans were not necessarily familiar with the tiny village of Del Dios, an artist community of eccentric cottages nestled next to Lake Hodges between busy Escondido and luxurious Rancho Santa Fe. I fell in love with this little hamlet and was blessed to live and practice there from 2016-2023. My location has changed to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but the name of my practice remains as a reminder to keep God first every step of the way. Much gratitude to you my clients, colleagues, and friends for bearing witness to this journey. If you are ever in North County San Diego... drive by Lake Hodges and you'll see exactly why the place earned its name.
